The Exorcist

Overall I would say the exorcist is not scary, just disgusting. I think at that time when the exorcist came out in 1973 it did scare people. I believe if I watched it back then I would think it would be very scary because the technology and film shots used in that movie is excellent for a film produced back then. The reason why it was scary back then is because there wasn’t really any film that entertained the audience by vomiting and the existence of spiritual demon possession. We live in a society where generation and generation we get more technology out and our animations for film get better!
The scariest scene in the exorcist would have to be the whole time she’s in bed and the devil has gotten into her. If you look at the picture, it’s disgusting because you first got to see this little innocent girl and right away she’s turning into a devil. Her face has all scars on it and just by looking at her eyes you’ll be scared; they’re all widened up and her eyebrows are up and crunched together like she’s up for no good. The throw up all over her bed and on her chest is just disgusting and disturbing, which gets the audience grossed out. Some of the visuals are also scary in the film because they were created by special effects that caused it to be different and scary. Regan’s exorcist face is the scariest faces ever seen in a movie. Secondly, the exorcist’s voice is very creepy and disturbing and the director makes sure you don’t forget her scary voice. Thirdly, a lot of people find the idea of being haunted by a demon or anything is very terrifying.
The parts in the exorcist that are no longer scary are all the scenes she turns her head around in a 360 degrees. I find this film more funny than scary just because I have seen worse scarier movies with better effects that pass the exorcist. Another thing about the exorcist is when she’s in bed and she’s rising above the bed and the priest is praying on her to release the devil that is inside her body. This part was not scary; because there’s nothing scary about her, its funny how you see her get up little by little she goes higher like she’s floating in the air. The foul language that was used by the exorcist was not at all scary, it was just funny. Some people might think that’s scary because they find it awkward to hear a language like talked by someone little like her. But it really wasn’t, it caused a little humor to the entire student in class.
